Centennial, Colo. — June 30, 2017 — AlloSource, one of the nation’s largest providers of cartilage, bone, skin, soft-tissue and cellular allografts for use in surgical procedures to advance patient healing, today hosted the kickoff event for Pedal For Life’s cross-country bike ride to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation. The Pedal for Life team will ride from Centennial, Colorado to Iowa City, Iowa and stop at each organ procurement organization on the way to highlight the importance of donation.

Pedal For Life started this year’s ride in Centennial because of the organization’s connection to AlloSource. Pedal For Life was started by the Brockway family following the loss of Garrett, their 10-year-old son. Garrett was an organ, eye and tissue donor and his tissue was sent to AlloSource to process for transplant. Through his gift of donation, over 125 patients around the country received Garrett’s tissue in a variety of life-enhancing procedures.

“The Brockway family and Pedal For Life team are an inspiration to all of us at AlloSource,” said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource President & CEO. “It is exciting to watch the momentum they have created through this event and we are honored to host them as they kick off their journey. Garrett’s legacy lives on through the incredible work of his family and Pedal For Life, and we know his story will have a large impact on everyone who interacts with Pedal For Life on their ride.”

Pedal For Life’s third annual ride started June 30 and will end July 10 in Iowa City, Iowa. They will share updates on the ride on the organization’s Facebook page.
